PAP Smear

The Papanicolaou test also known as PAP smear or PAP test is a cervical screening procedure used to detect pre-cancerous or cancerous cells in the cervix. Abnormal results are followed by advanced diagnostics procedures that aim to reduce the risk of cancer or prevent its progression.

Our process

At Global Health, a PAP smear is performed through a speculum that opens the vagina for inspection. After the opening, the specialist collects the cells from the outer part of the cervix in a portion where the outer cells of squamous cervical meet the inner cells of glandular endocervical. The cells are examined for cancerous elements under a microscope. If the results show abnormalities, your specialist will ask you to appear for another test to ensure the abnormalities after which your specialist will guide you about how to proceed further to prevent the disease from progressing.
